A couple weeks ago, a French McDonald's ad featuring a gay teen was all over the internet, and now, McDonald's COO Don Thompson has some interesting things to say about it. First, Thompson would like you to know that he's a Christian who is not "the judge or the jury relative to right or wrong."
However, he is the COO of a company that stands for "core values," and despite their best efforts, McDonald's is "going to make some mistakes at times." Thompson confirmed that one of these mistakes will not be showing the sweet, progressive ad in America, however.
[We talk] about things that may have an implication in one part of the world and may be the cultural norm in another part of the world. And those are things that, yes, we're going to learn from. But you're right, that commercial won't show in the United States.
Good thing accepting homosexuality isn't "the cultural norm" anywhere in America, or perhaps he'd need to show commercials like this here to avoid alienating an entire money-spending, burger-eating demographic. Oh, wait.
