Diner's Journal reports that the Vilcek Foundation— which recognizes immigrants in science, culture and the arts—is handing out awards to culinary professionals for the first time in their ten year history. The big winner is Jose Andres, who will receive the grand prize and $50,000. The runners up are Yoshinori Ishii, a Japanese chef at NYC's Morimoto, and Nandini Mukherjee, and Indian-born chef who owns Aamchi Pao in New York. They will each receive $5,000. [Diner's Journal]
