Biometric Coke Vending Machine from Japan

On display at the RetailTech 2010 exhibition in Tokyo is Hitachi's Coke machine from the future that uses "finger vein authentication" (aka VeinID technology). The system uses near-infrared light to capture the unique vein pattern in your fingertip that's linked to your bank account or credit card. Stick your finger on the reader, enjoy a cold beverage.
