New, 1 comment

LOS ANGELES In an interview for LA Weekly, Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo—the dudes behind LA's wildly successful Animal—revealed that they might open a second restaurant. What kind of restaurant? They mention a BBQ place, a taco stand, a seafood shack, a Latin American spot, and a sandwich shop as distinct possibilities. So, there you go. Let the wild speculation begin! THE SWEDISH WONDER—Today, Marcus Samuelsson dished on his guilty pleasure for Slashfood: "I love to eat Chinese take-out from a spot in my neighborhood, especially if I've been traveling in Europe for a while, since that kind of food isn't really available there. I don't know what it is about General Tso's Chicken, but I absolutely crave it sometimes." [Slashfood]

NEW YORK—In an interview with the 92nd St. Y, Blue Hill chef/owner Dan Barber talks about what he looks for when hiring a new chef: "I often ask cooks what they're reading, which is a very great indicator of the kind of cooks they'll be. It's not 100 percent, but it tends to be a really interesting mark of the kind of interest they have in the kinds of things that we do." He also wants "stamina and drive" and an ability to sleep just five hours a night. [92Y via Eater NY]
