News Anchor's Restaurant Eyes National Expansion

New, 2 comments

Rosanna Scotto is a seasoned New York newscaster who currently hosts a local morning show. She's also co-owner, along with various family members, of a slightly pricey Italian eatery in midtown Manhattan, Fresco by Scotto. Today Crains reports that the Scottos have inked a deal that will bring meals "inspired by" the restaurant to people's doorsteps nationwide, via a delivery service.

Currently, the delivery company, Schwan's, already offers three of the Scotto's dishes (which are prepared at a factory in Connecticut) to a limited range of customers, but the new deal will both amp up the menu options, and expand the availability of the food line across the country.

While Rosanna acts as the public face of the restaurant, the whole Scotto clan regularly appear together on the Today Show, and have also popped up on a few daytime and late night talks shows. Schwan's recently begun to raise its profile in metropolitan areas with various promotions — including Top Chef-themed meals during the run of season six — so it makes sense that they would want to work with a brand that already has a strong media presence, especially in New York. To get an idea of what the Scottos's take on Italian home cooking is all about, here's a video of their most recent Columbus Day appearance on the Today Show:
