New Jeff Cerciello Space Revealed, The Six Best Food Films

New, 13 comments

LOS ANGELES Eater LA breaks some big news today about the next project from former Thomas Keller right hand man Jeffrey Cerciello. Last we heard, Cerciello had left the warm embrace of Keller's restaurant group to strike it out on his own somewhere in LA. Now we learn that he will in fact be taking over the massive City Bakery space in Brentwood. Construction has begun on the concept, which he originally described as "gourmet market and cafe." Do click over to Eater LA for more pics of the space as a work in progress. [Eater LA]

FOOD MOVIELANDBon Appetit compiles their list of Six Best Food Films, and remarkably Julie and Julia didn't make the cut (though it is a runner up). They're number one pick is Ratatouille, followed by Babette's Feast, Like Water for Chocolate, Chocolat, Big Night and Japanese ramen comedy (Ram-Com?) Tampopo. [BA]

SOBE '10— Kate Krader reflects on her top three moments from this past weekend's SoBe Fest. Her pick for number one? The Burger Bash, of course: "When you’re a burger judge like I was, you have to taste every single one of the 27 burgers. So I can say with some authority which ones were best: Miami’s own Michael’s Genuine, topped with house-smoked bacon and white cheddar (judge’s best burger) and The B Spot burger, topped with pastrami and Swiss and coleslaw (the people’s choice winner). Honorable mention goes to Good Stuff Eatery’s bacon-American cheeseburger, and not just because Spike Mendelsohn put on a superhero outfit to serve it."[MO]
