Choi to the World

2010-03%20Roy%20Choi.jpgTIME runs a solid profile on Kogi BBC truck king Roy Choi today, and while there's not a lot new here to anyone who's familiar with the chef's rise, there are a few interesting tidbits. For one thing, Choi credits the start of his culinary career to a moment when he was coming down of a drug high, and Emeril started talking to him through the T.V. ("He came out of the TV... and said, 'Smell this. Touch this. Taste this. Do something.") Choi also says of the popularity of his $2 tacos: " You have these famous chefs and farmers' markets with fresh vegetables, and you have fast food--and nothing in between... ." [TIME]
