In what is proving to be a huge day for Top Chef news, now we learn that Season 5 fan favorite Fabio Viviani has inked a big deal with Bertolli olive oil to star in a series of commercials, and to appear as their spokesperson at food fests and trade shows.
Recently, Viviani did a bit of shilling for the Italian foods giant when he participated in a Bertolli demo at Sobe '10, and appeared in three 30-second TV spots that appeared in select markets during the Olympics. The new deal, it seems, increases his commitment with the brand considerably. Says the former cheftestant:
"Bertolli Olive Oil is a product I believe in, not only from my life in Italy, but also because of its consistent flavor that enhances what I'm creating. ... It's an honor and a privilege to work with the number one olive oil brand in the world."
Mind you, this news comes hot on the heels of similar shill-deals with the Torpedo Kitchen Pro, Dr. Oetker's NO.1 frozen pizzas, and San Pelligrino mineral water, and just a few months after the opening (and panning) of his Post Top Chef project, Firenze Osteria. At this point, you've got to wonder if his career model is none other than fellow Bertolli shill (and Marisa Tomei crush) Rocco Dispirito.
