Childs Play

kids_eating3501.jpgToday the SF Gate's Michael Bauer takes a look at how children can affect a restaurant's bottom line. The owner of a popular bay area eatery explains their recent menu price hikes had partly to do with the fact that they have so many kiddie diners, noting that an average dining ticket at the restaurant for a child is $7.50, compared to the $31.00 ticket for an adult diner. But how to counteract kids running amuck, discouraging adult diners from coming back? Says the restaurateur: "We have the host staff manage them and try to entertain them, if the parent won't. It can be quite a challenge on a lot of levels." [SF Gate]
