Here's an interesting piece of viral marketing: on the Food Network's site, there's a page dedicated to recipes from a "dress rehearsal" of Iron Chef America, where the "stand in" Iron Chefs use Doritos as the secret ingredient. Of course, they commit to the challenge as diligently as Bobby, Mario and the rest of the gang do when presented with actual fine ingredients, and there's photo evidence to prove it.
Pretty sneaky, Doritos, but we all know that these days, Iron Chef America usually picks things like vegetables grown by Michelle Obama as the secret ingredient. That being said, if anyone is curious on how to make flash seared salmon with Doritos pearls, or Dorriciti pasta with pancetta, caramelized onions, roasted garlic and Doritos parmesan cheese, please head over to the Food Network's site. They'll hook you up with all you need to know.
