Sarah Palin Takes S'more Digs at Michelle Obama

We wouldn't use words like "slam," "ridicule," or "bash" like the New York Daily News did to describe what Sarah Palin said on the latest episode of Sarah Palin's Alaska. But they did just that, going so far as running a "Food Fight" cover this morning. (We much prefer the term "S'mores Wars.")

"Where's the S'mores ingredients?" Palin asked her kids as she rifled through cabinets of the luxury charter bus. She continued, "This is in honor of Michelle Obama, who said the other day we should not have dessert."

Check out the slideshow above or the video clip below:

Of course this was a thinly-veiled dig at First Lady Michelle Obama and her Let's Move! campaign, a nationwide initiative to promote making healthy choices and improving the quality of food in schools. Which seems like not such a terrible thing considering that 17 percent of children and adolescents in the US are obese? But for the GOP, it's all framed in the rhetoric of freedom, individual choices, and government intrusion.

"Mama Grizzly unleashed!" said Chris Matthews on MSNBC's Hardball. Unleashed while looking for marshmallows in an enormous luxury charter bus while being filmed for a reality television program? Is that how true Alaskans roll?
