A restaurant owner/operator responds to the saga that is the customer demanding a gift certificate to replace a forgotten doggie bag: "[S]ending them a $10 or $15 gift certificate, which would probably cost the restaurant $2 to $7.50, might result in everlasting loyalty... That gift certificate could result in a future large sale, making the cost of the gift certificate insignificant. It does reek, though, of a new scam." [-E-]
