The U.K.-based conveyor belt-sushi chain Yo! Sushi has set its sights on Chicago as the first city for a potentially massive U.S. expansion plan. The chain — which has over 50 restaurants throughout the United Kingdom and about a dozen franchises in the Middle East, Ireland, and Russia — wants to open 10 to 12 Yo! Sushi locations in Chicago.
From their PR reps we also learn that Yo! Sushi is "focusing on a few other major cities, and have already visited Las Vegas and Dallas. Other potential cities include Atlanta, Boston, Denver, Portland, Seattle, and Washington, D.C."
This news, paired with Wagamama's recently-announced desire to expand to a whopping 650 locations in the U.S., means 2011 is shaping up to be the year of the UK-based Asian chain invasion.
