In an interview about food and writing and culinary school, Salon's Francis Lam talked about the food-writing trend he'd like to see go away: "I want people to stop writing about what they ate for breakfast. That's the kind of writing that makes people think, 'That's what you do?' ...Stop telling me what you had for breakfast and start telling me what matters about what you had for breakfast."
Well, we were curious. What did Francis Lam eat for breakfast today? So we checked in with Mr. Lam and he told us through a series of emails: "Eating pie, currently... Apple pie. Made by my special ladyfriend... With apples we picked with her niece. I feel incredibly wholesome."
