Marc Forgione vs R.J. Cooper in Iron Chef Battle Bell Peppers

New, 2 comments

"Which Iron Chef will you mince like a massive mound of marbled mutton?" the Chairman asked challenger R.J. Cooper. James Beard Award-winning chef Cooper — who's set to open the restaurant Rogue 24 in Washington, DC soon — selected the Next Iron Chef winner Marc Forgione as his competitor.

The secret ingredient was the humble bell pepper. Said judge and TV host Nigella Lawson, "Green peppers are an abomination. They are not to be enjoyed." The judges — Lawson, PR expert Karine Bakhoum and Man v Food's Adam Richman — preferred Forgione's transformative techniques over Cooper's too-subtle pepper usage. They gave Forgione the win by a score of 54 to 45. Forgione's Iron Chef record now stands at 1-0.
