The San Francisco Board of Supervisors today voted to ban toys in McDonald's Happy Meals that contain over 600 calories and more than 35% of calories from fat. The Board voted with a veto-proof majority, meaning the mayor can't override it. It's done. Said one of the supervisors, "I do believe the industry is going to take note of this. I don't care how much they say, 'It's San Francisco, they're wacked out there.'" To which we say: It's San Francisco, they're wacked out there. What's to stop McDonald's from just selling the toys separately? [-ESF-]
