In the grand tradition of British scandals, the situation between Gordon Ramsay and his father-in-law and former business partner Chris Hutcheson has escalated dramatically since Ramsay fired Hutcheson and placed guards outside his London headquarters to prevent him from entering. Hutcheson spoke out against Ramsay in the Daily Mail, saying Ramsay has a svengali-like hold over his daughter and comparing him to Pinocchio:
"After a while, though, Pinocchio decides that he is what the show is all about. He doesn't need a puppet master so he cuts the strings and he falls down in a heap."
Hutcheson had supposedly borrowed £1.5 million (about US $2.4 million) from the struggling Gordon Ramsay Holdings, which Hutcheson said was not taken "unethically, without anyone knowing, without accountants knowing or Gordon knowing." The Ramsays say they are "are shocked and saddened by Chris's actions," but won't be responding publicly.
