Michael Symon to Close Bar Symon in Ohio

Iron Chef Michael Symon announced yesterday that Bar Symon, the Cleveland-area restaurant featuring his spin on bar food, would close on October 30th. Featuring 50 beers on tap, the Avon Lake restaurant (just west of Cleveland) opened in July 2009 and never really took off. Symon told The Morning Journal, "The concept is not working in this location... It just didn't take in this spot. This is the first time in our company that we've had to close a restaurant."

Symon channeled his best text messaging-teenager and elaborated on Facebook:

very sad that we r closing bar symon..its r concept that truly reflects what i love to eat...if u have gcs they u will be able to use them at any of our places or can get them refunded at bar symon...thanks to everyone who supported us there..and a huge thanks to our fabulous staff

Symon's other (still-open!) restaurants include B Spot Burgers and Lola in Cleveland, Lolita in Tremont, Ohio, and Roast in Detroit, Michigan.
