New York restaurateur Joe Bastianich has sold his memoirs to Viking, who plans to publish them next fall. No title yet, but the book will follow Bastianich from his roots in Queens all the way up the ranks of the New York restaurant world, which most recently resulted in the opening of Eataly and a four-star review for Del Posto.
It seems like there will be lots of parental words of wisdom from chef and cookbook author Lydia Bastianich, as well as bon mots on the joys of making wine and marathon training strategies. As for tone? The book promises "lessons learned from the hard knocks, slings and arrows of one of the toughest businesses there is." And in other news, 27 current and former workers from Del Posto are going forward with a lawsuit claiming that owners Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich cheated them out of wages.
