Now that Govind Armstrong has completely moved out of the (shuttered) Table 8 space in Manhattan's Cooper Square Hotel, Scott Conant is quickly ramping up his new project there. Per Eater NY, Conant is following in the footsteps of fellow NYC restaurateurs Andrew Carmellini and Danny Meyer by sticking a casual cafe next to his more formal dining room to attract the lunch crowd and the casual diners. Tough economic times like these call for innovative thinking, and nowadays it looks like restaurants are embracing the option of upscale or downscale.
