Pub Grub

englishpub.jpgOne curious detail from the just announced results of the UK edition of the Michelin Guide 2010 -- a handful of standard, mom and pop pubs racked up stars this year. The three pubs awarded with stars are not "gastropubs", but rather proper drinking establishments with great food. Derek Blumer, the editor of the Michelin guide noted "Last year was clearly a difficult year for hotels and restaurants but those establishments who reacted by being more flexible and creative appear to be riding the storm. Value for money has also been an important factor." In addition to the three pubs that received proper stars this year, many others were also recoginzed on the Michelin "Bib Gourmand" list, which honors food at moderate prices. Gordon Ramsay's London gastropub, the Narrow, was dropped from this list. [The Publican]
