Zagat Cuts Locations; Chef Academy Sneak Peek

TELEVISION—Somewhat buried in yesterday's big announcement of Top Chef Season 7 casting was a new Bravo show called Chef Academy. It's being called a "docu-series" and will follow Michelin-starred chef Jean Christophe Novelli as he tries to open a cooking school in LA. Eat Me Daily has a video preview. [EMD]

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA—Poor LA. First Michelin completely does away with its entire LA/Vegas edition, and now Zagat has cut the Orange County edition of its guide: "... last year’s O.C. book didn’t sell so we’re back to being 'lumped' in with the Los Angeles guide ... [Zagat] made the decision to only provide the 'cream of the crop' restaurants of Orange County." [OCR]

MIAMI—Early this morning, a man was denied service at Taco Bell and became so mad that he shot a girl in the leg: "He became upset and demanded to be served, but employees again told him they were closed, according to police ... the subject discharged a firearm towards the manager, striking a female employee on her right leg."
