Michelin NYC 2010 Guide Unveiled; Daniel Gets Third Star

The 2010 edition of the New York Michelin guide hits bookshelves tomorrow, but the winners (and losers) of the annual French red book have been released today. Much to Alan Richman's delight, the big news is that Daniel has finally earned its elusive third star, joining the elite American three-star club of Per Se, Masa, Le Bernardin, Jean Georges, and on the West Coast, the French Laundry.

Other notable restaurants that made positive headway this year include Alto (up to two stars), Marea (one star), Eleven Madison Park (one star), and Corton, the new Drew Nieporent/Paul Liebrandt vehicle that made its Michelin debut at the two-star level. On the other hand, more than a few restaurants got downgraded this time around, including Mario Batali's Del Posto, which lost one of its two stars.
