Sure, Alice Waters comes off as a stately, demure older lady nowadays, but once upon a time (the '70s), the Slow Food matron was quite the swinging lass. In an article recounting the story of Waters and Chez Panisse, one friend remembers the early days of the landmark restaurant/sex den: "'One reason the story of Chez Panisse is so complex is that Alice was involved with so many of the men,’ says another friend...'And if she wasn’t then someone else in the restaurant was."
