Michelin SF Released; The Laundry Still the Sole Three-Star

This morning, Michelin released its annual Bay Area edition, revealing the much-anticipated new crop of starred restaurants.

As in years past, the French Laundry remains the sole three-star restaurant on the West Coast, and this time around, the returning two stars are Coi (San Francisco), Cyrus (Sonoma County), Manresa (South Bay) and the Restaurant at Meadowood (Napa). The big news, however, is the two restaurants that lost their deuce: Michael Mina's eponymous flagship was demoted down to one star, while Aqua lost both its stars. New to the one-star level this year are Aziza, Commis, Etoile, La Toque, Luce, Sante, Solbar and Napa's vegetarian destination, Ubuntu. SF classic Quince also regained its star after a year hiatus.
