Before we turn the page completely on the extravaganza that was the 2009 New York Wine & Food Festival (check out Eater NY's full coverage here), Scarpetta overlord Scott Conant revealed some new plans for his burgeoning empire. Conant already pulled the plug on his Washington DC outpost a week or two ago, and now there's more shuffling at work. From Mr. Conant's interview in the Eater Lounge:
We were going to do two places in the Fontainebleau in Vegas but it looks like that's not happening anymore ...
But even though Vegas has joined DC on the Conant backburner, Toronto (Canada!) has been slotted to join the ranks of NYC and Miami to get itself a Scarpetta:
[Toronto is] not necessarily a great food town per se, but there’s is a lot of great food in Toronto ... So we’re looking at opening up there next year.Specifically, April/spring 2010 is the initial ETA for Scott Conant's international emergence in America's fair sister to the north.
