Attention please: It's time now for an update of Eater's Pappy Van Winkle Locator map. The Old Rip Van Winkle Distillery's bourbon — often called Pappy Van Winkle or Pappy — is a cultural phenomenon. Bourbon connoisseurs have long held it up as one of the world's best, while limited production has ensured that it is also one of the world's most sought after bourbons. Bourbon drinkers languish for years on waiting lists at their local liquor stores just to get a bottle. And there was total havoc earlier this month when 65 cases of the Family Reserve 20 Year bourbon were stolen from the distillery.
Now, once again, it is the time of year when Old Rip Van Winkle Distillery sends out shipments of its cult-like bourbon across the country. Bars and restaurants everywhere are now eagerly receiving — or anticipating — their Pappy allocations. Many of them will be replenishing their stocks over the course of the coming months. And still others have managed to squirrel away bottles remaining from last year's allocation. So where are these marvelous establishments? Here now, the Eater Pappy Locator:
