Of all the seasonal treats rained down upon the masses around the holidays, fruitcake is the one that usually sticks around longest — partially because it’s inedible, and also because it basically never goes bad. But Starbucks isn’t letting these facts stop it from mining the dessert for its latest seasonal beverage. Beginning December 15 and running through that weekend, the coffee giant is blending up Fruitcake Frappuccinos.
Like the notorious baked good, the drink contains a mishmash of various ingredients: A basic Hazelnut Creme Frappuccino is blended with dried fruit, spiced with cinnamon, and topped off with whipped cream and caramel. Finally, the whole thing is sprinkled with vibrant matcha.
If you’re wondering when the kitsch will stop, it does not. In honor of National Ugly Sweater Day, which is apparently on December 16, Starbucks Rewards members who order the seasonal drink will also receive an ugly sweater cozy to wrap around their beverage. Customers can also snag ugly sweater cookies at cafes nationwide through the holidays.
Starbucks is really embracing the the holidays this year (unlike last year when the company was so obviously warring on Christmas). While people briefly freaked out about the pre-season green unity cup design, the red cups eventually arrived more festive than ever. Meanwhile, Pokémon Go players and Starbucks lovers were united this month over a the game’s official Frappuccino.
