The bearded brothers behind the cultishly beloved Brooklyn brand Mast Brothers Chocolate are bringing their "American craft chocolate" across the pond: Inc. reports the duo is currently constructing a new production facility in London. Co-founder Rick Mast tells the magazine that the expansion will bring its sustainable sourcing and production methods closer to buyers to Europe, thus ensuring better quality control: "We never want to be just another chocolate bar on a shelf." (Check out the duo's bean-to-bar approach in this Eater video from 2010.)
The Brooklyn-based Mast Brothers launched in 2007; just two years later, the brothers opened a production facility and retail store in Williamsburg, following that up with a second factory that opened in the borough last year.
