Despite fervent rumors that Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich's Italian food emporium Eataly would soon expand to Toronto's Yorkville neighborhood, looks like an outpost is still a few years away, at least. According to a rep, "Eataly is definitely looking at expanding in several countries," but there are currently no solid plans for a Toronto location at this time. The rep confirms to Eater that "it looks like Eataly Toronto won't happen for another three years or so."
Eataly currently has 26 locations worldwide, but only two of them are in North America: New York City and the recently-opened outlet in Chicago. In September 2012, Batali told Eater to expect "more Eatalys in North America and South America in 2013 and 2014." One ended up being the Chicago location, and rumors of possible Eataly openings have recently surfaced in Boston, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas. Sorry, Canada.
