Less than a month after a breakfast-loving entrepreneur launched a Kickstarter to fund a computer keyboard-shaped waffle maker, the project has been fully funded. Designer Chris Dimino announced over the weekend, "By popular demand, the internet's dream of keyboard-shaped waffles is now a reality."
"By popular demand, the internet's dream of keyboard-shaped waffles is now a reality."
Geeky, waffle-loving fans pushed past the original Kickstarter goal of $50,000. The keyboard project raised a total of $66,685 by its target date on Christmas Eve. Dimino told re/code via email, "As soon as I noticed we were $1,500 away, I looked up again and suddenly we were just over [$50,000]. It was an immediate relief! The hundreds of additional people that pledged after reaching the goal were really validating, and encouraging."
The waffle iron designer says the first orders will be shipped sometime in April 2015. Until then, Dimino says he has a few other projects up his sleeves.
